Kitty’s Day Out Policies & Procedures

At Kitty’s Day Out, our mission is to provide the safest and most enjoyable grooming experience for both you and your cat. We are dedicated to maintaining a clean, professional, and cat-conscious environment, using only high-quality, cat-safe products that meet the highest standards in feline grooming.

To help ensure the health, safety, and comfort of every cat in our care — and to support a smooth and respectful experience for all clients — we kindly ask that you review and follow the policies outlined below. These procedures are in place to protect your pet, other animals, and our staff, and to help make each visit as stress-free and successful as possible.

Vaccination Policy

All new cat clients must be up to date on vaccinations, including rabies. Proof may be requested prior to service.

Time Policy

We reserve the right to take the time necessary to groom each cat safely and appropriately. Pickup time will be arranged at drop-off, once we’ve assessed the cat’s coat condition.

Standard grooming appointments take between 1–3 hours depending on breed, coat condition, and services requested.

Punctuality

Please arrive on time for your appointment. A 10-minute grace period is allowed. Arrivals beyond that may incur a late fee.

First-time clients may arrive up to 5 minutes early to allow their cat to settle. All cats must arrive in secure carriers.

Payment

Payment is due at time of pick-up. We accept cash, debit, and credit.

Bathing Requirement

All cats are required to receive a bath as part of the grooming process. This is essential not only for your cat’s hygiene and comfort but also to protect and maintain the integrity of professional grooming equipment.

Each cat is bathed using an organic, all-natural shampoo that is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin or cats with allergies.

Matted Coats & Dematting Fees

Mats can cause pain, skin damage, and increase the risk of infection. If your cat arrives with matting, we may need to shave affected areas for their safety and comfort.

We do not brush out severe mats to avoid unnecessary stress or injury. Possible side effects of mat removal include itchiness, redness, uneven hair growth, or temporary behavior changes.

By booking, you acknowledge and accept the risks of mat removal and authorize a shaving if needed.

Dematting fees start at $15 and can go up to $50, depending on coat condition and grooming time required. Final cost is assessed at drop-off.

Accidents

While accidents are rare, grooming involves the use of sharp tools, and occasional minor injuries such as nicks, scratches, or inadvertent nail trimming may occur, particularly if the cat is moving or unsettled. If an incident occurs, you will be notified. In the event of a more serious injury and if the owner is not on-site, Kitty’s Day Out will seek immediate veterinary care.

Veterinary Authorization – Medical Emergencies

By signing this form, you authorize Kitty’s Day Out to seek veterinary treatment from the nearest available veterinarian in the event of a medical emergency while your cat is in our care.

Any and all veterinary costs incurred will be the sole responsibility of the cat’s owner.

Senior, Aged & Ill Cats

Cats over age 11 may have underlying health concerns that increase their risk during grooming. We do not accept new cats aged 15 years or older for grooming, for the safety of the pet.

Interruptions During Grooming

Please do not interrupt the grooming session. If you arrive before your cat is finished, do not call to or interact with your cat. This can be dangerous for both the cat and the groomer. You may be asked to step outside until the appointment is complete. If interruptions continue, we reserve the right to end the session early and charge the full service fee.

Satisfaction Policy

Your satisfaction is important to us. If you would like an adjustment, please let us know before you leave the salon. Once your cat is taken home, any additional changes will require a new appointment and may incur a fee depending on the extent of the service.

Allergic Reactions

We take great care in selecting the best products for your cat’s skin and coat condition. We avoid strongly fragranced products as they tend to cause reactions, but reactions can still occur. If your cat has a reaction to a grooming product, please notify us within 24 hours. All medical expenses related to allergic reactions are the responsibility of the cat’s owner.

Parasites, Fleas, Ticks & Lice

If your cat arrives with a contagious condition (e.g., ringworm, respiratory illness, or a skin infection), they will be sent home immediately and the groom will be cancelled. Full grooming fees will still apply.

Failure to disclose pre-existing or contagious conditions is unfair to the groomer and other clients. Once your cat has received proper treatment, you may reschedule.

Flea Control Policy

If fleas are found during the grooming session, your cat will be sent home immediately and a cleaning fee will be applied.
All cats should be on a year-round flea prevention program.

Health or Medical Conditions

Grooming may occasionally uncover or aggravate a medical issue, either during or after the appointment. Kitty’s Day Out is not liable for these outcomes. All veterinary expenses related to such issues are the sole responsibility of the cat’s owner.
